Kaiwi Coast Run & Walk – November 19, 2023
The Kaiwi Coast Run & Walk is our annual fundraiser for Hui Nalu programs and brings awareness and support for the preservation of the coastline. This is a unique and exciting opportunity for our island community to experience the beauty of the scenic Kaiwi coastline at a runner’s or walker’s pace. The road is closed from the start line until Hanauma Bay!
The preservation of the Kaiwi Coast is a story of the community working together to protect coastline in its natural and wild state. As early as 1973, hotel developers were attempting to develop the Queen’s Beach area, popularly known as Alan Davis. In 1983, the area was rezoned as preservation land and in 1988 the Sandy Beach Park area was also rezoned and preserved. Queen’s Beach is now part of the Kaiwi Coast State Scenic Shoreline.
