DESCRIPTION:Join the Relaunch of the Aʻa Canoe!\nOHCRA invites you to celebrate the relaunching of the Aʻa on Saturday\, November 8th\, from 6:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Keʻehi Lagoon. \nAbout the Aʻa\nThe Aʻa (affectionately called the ʻĀ) is a historic 40-foot waʻa kialoa (racing canoe) that was owned and raced by Prince Jonah Kūhiō Kalanianaʻole in the early 1900s. It is currently held at the Bishop Museum and is believed to be the first canoe built in modern history specifically for racing\, as part of Prince Kūhiō’s efforts to revitalize the importance of the canoe in Hawaiian culture. \nEvent Highlights\nThe relaunch celebration will feature: \n\nEducational Booths (information on the Aʻa and koa canoes)\nMoʻolelo Sessions (storytelling)\nFood and Drink Vendors\n\nThe Hui Nalu club will also be participating\, bringing their canoe\, the Enay\, to join the launching ceremony. \nRegister and Volunteer\nTo join us at the Aʻa relaunch and to volunteer (kokua)\, please register here https://forms.gle/bCHZ23tZJAerW5sHA. \nFor more details\, contact Mark Cluney at markcluney@gmail.com.
